#1: Confluencer Point

(visited by John Dag Hutchison, Aase Tveitan Hutchison and Andres Tveitan)

04-Aug-2010 -- My wife Aase and I set out from our cottage in Lunde, Telemark and met her brother Andres at the entrance to Valldalen on E134. At the end of the road up the valley we started the trekking which according to the GPS was 5.75 km. We went on the eastern side of the river. The going was slow as I had a bad back ache from cutting and chopping firewood preparing for the winter 2011/2012.

We passed the old, renovated stone cottages mentioned by the last visitors and met a number of young people trekking, some even carrying collapsible canoes for use on the lakes and streams. It took us about three hours to get to the confluence point, in the middle of a stream. My wife did not need to be carried across, she had rubber boots. As it turned out they were not long enough and she did the return to the car in soggy boots.

At this point my back ache was rather prominent, and I did not pay enough attention to the setting on my camera. The photos are therefore not very good.

We returned to the car on the western side of the river. On the way we scared up a handful of ptarmigans and the odd sheep. Basically a good trip, apart from the back ache.
