12-Sep-2010 -- I had been planning to visit Valle Aurina for a while, and so when I saw the weather forecast was excellent I decided to kill two birds with one stone (family weekend holiday and confluence point).
I visited 47°N 12°E on the way back from an amazing two-day hike to Rifugio Giogo Lungo at the end of the valley Aurina. We went up 'Windtal' and down Rottal valleys. If you love the great outdoors and are not afraid of a 1km height gain walk, then this round trip is a must!
I had already read the previous description for this confluence point so followed the advice to take the little bridge and then head past the green pasture next to a big Austrian-looking villa into the forest on a small path.
The only tricky bit about this point is the fact that it lies upon a very steep wooded slope and the GPS signal jumps around a bit due to the dense foliage overhead (eventual I got close enough, according to the GPS that is).
I advise you to take hiking boots if you intend to climb the slope as it is quite slippy with old pine needles.
