This was the first CP I’ve visited in the State of Kentucky. This Confluence hadn’t been visited for close to 10 years and in that time, nothing has changed. I came in from highway 44 and turned on Anderson City road. I traveled on City road for 2.8 miles and parked on the right side of the road about 100 feet short of a gate on the left with power lines overhead. Anderson City road is loaded with curves, and narrow with very little shoulder. Should you meet any traffic, it can be interesting getting around each other. The steel gate didn’t have any “no trespassing” signs on it nor did I see any on the fence to either side of it so this was where I started. The CP is located about .85 miles due north of this gate. While the temperature was 24 degrees, the sun shined brightly and made hiking very pleasant. This land is popular with deer hunters. I came across two tree stands so be aware of this should you decide to do this during hunting season. The hike will take you across hill and dale or as Kentuckians call these valleys, “hollers”. You’ll need to meander a little bit as you pick your way up and down the hills but generally, the walking is good. By the time I arrived at the CP, I had covered 1.25 miles. It didn’t seem that far and I didn’t keep track of time probably because the hike was so pleasant.
As documented by the two previous visits, the CP is in the middle of a field with picturesque surroundings. I didn’t see any wildlife but deer tracks and droppings abound. I took the required pictures, hung out for a little bit and enjoyed the solitude and quietness. I took a slightly different route back, stopping frequently in the hopes of seeing deer, but also just to enjoy more of the countryside. Nice CP visit.
