08-Sep-2011 -- The Region 1 Amateur Radio Direction Finding Championships for 2011 were located in Baile Felix - with my hotel only 1.5km from this confluence point I decided that after my race a little walk was in order.
With the advance in technology over the years I was able to check the confluence.org website to make sure that a N47E22 visit was going to be practical - over 3G and with a phone weighing 86g containing in addition a GPS, detailed road map of Romania and with access to satellite imagery - No more going blindly into the mountains only with only compass and 1950's vintage military map...
It is nearly 10 years since the first visit to this confluence - the trees are a bit bigger, the village looks more prosperous and the pentecostal church is no more.
Sadly the occupants of #71 were out for the afternoon so I was unable to get right to the point.
The surrounding terrain is very pleasant - as long as you are not running uphill! The village fund their own security guard - luckily the evening shift had not started - so I was able to complete my mission without incident.
