10-Oct-2011 -- This would be the fifth of eleven confluence visits on a trip to Colorado continuing from 35N 105W.

Rather than dashing across the interstate as Michael Grady had done, I opted to park under at a convenient I-40 underpass accessible from the northern frontage road. It was a quick walk up a gently sloping hill to the confluence with good views in all directions. There was a point when I looked back and thought I saw people walking around the underpass but realized it was just shadows playing with me. I stayed at the confluence for about 20 minutes while I collected data, sent a SPOT message, and took pictures.

Pathfinder Office Post Processing 505 data points from my Trimble Juno reveals an average position of 34° 59’ 59.97979”N, 107° 00’ 00.00584”W with a horizontal precision of 1.9 meters and an altitude of 1672.093 meters with a vertical precision of 1.3 meters.

From my covered parking spot, it was a 4.3 km and 1 hour round trip hike including my time spent at the confluence.

I had dinner and spent the night at a good friend's house in Albuquerque.

The adventure continues at 36N 106W.
