06-Apr-2012 -- I was visiting Stellenbosch University for several days preparing a joint research proposal and spent the upcoming Easter holidays at the Cape Region. Since it was impossible to find a public bus to get to Bonnievale I had to rent a vehicle. I took the trip-route from Stellenbosch via Franschhoek pass and Robertson, and entered the valley from the North.
The unpaved road leading to the small settlement next to the CP was easily found. I parked the vehicle appr. 500 meters from the Confluence and walked uphill. I passed some small houses; the two houses near the CP were locked, and so it was impossible to ask if I may enter the hedged pasture area. I further walked uphill and made it 45 m next to the CP. Since the kids already paid attention, I decided not crossing the fence.
The CP is located on the lower slope, partly used as private pasture area, and provides a wonderful view over the valley covered with vineyards. The area around the CP is covered with small shrubs and many different succulent plants used as pastures (maybe for sheep?). At the public part a small water supply facility for the neighbouring houses was built. I took the necessary pictures and called it a day.
