#1: The Confluence from 20 m distance

(visited by Rainer Mautz)

21-Mar-2015 -- This is the third out of 4 reports reaching confluence points during a bicycle trip in France.

After visiting 45°N 0° on the previous day, I spontaneously decided to make a “little” deviation from my route towards Bordeaux by visiting this confluence point.

Via Angoulême, I rode my bicycle further north and reached this confluence at 10:30 AM via Marcillac-Lanville, Aigre and Saint-Fraigne on little county roads that provide excellent cycling conditions. Shortly before entering the village Longré, I turned onto an agricultural track (800 m to go). I parked my bicycle at the nearest track at a distance of 210 m. From there, it was an easy stroll to the confluence point. It was possible to reach the point without stepping into the crops by walking along a tractor lane.

The confluence is located in the middle of a huge agricultural field. This season, some radish-like plant is grown. The morning fog that I had encountered during my trip had just dissolved such that the pictures also show the forest around the field.

After the visit, I went into the village Longré, which is the nearest settlement to the confluence (1 km distance). In the afternoon, I rode quickly to the Roman city Saints and after a short visit, I made it to Royan, where I caught the last ferry to Soulac-sur-Mar, where I stayed the night.
