04-Aug-2015 -- After the visit of 46°N 0°EW in the morning I returned to the car and headed for this DCP. After about 2 km I was driving the D9 to the East. Via the D740 I continued for about 75 km, passing Ruffec, Nanteuil-en-Vallée, Champagne-Mouton, Alloue, Confolens. After Confolens the road is designated D30 and after Lesterps D82. At the crossroads with the D675 at Le Chêne Pignier the road changes into D9.

After 1.5 km of this crossroads I turned left into the C1 leading to Ceinturat. I am now driving in a very beautiful area with “menhirs”, rock formations, lakes, valleys, and small roads. It is called “Le pays de Citurat”. The information panel shows the area. At home I annotated the panel in yellow to show my track. My first try at a lake led me to a too small road for the car so I tried to approach the DCP (green circle) by the North. I had to leave the car at Boscartus (P) and walked the last 500 m. At the beginning of the walk a beautiful view gives a good impression of the area.

The DCP is at the edge of a very steep slope and the border of a lake, about 10 m beside the path, but also about 10 m below the path. Looking North you see the path I descended, looking East you look to the DCP and you see the lake below, the path continues to the South (which leads to my first try) and the view to the West is blocked by the continuation of the steep slope covered by vegetation.

About 8 km SSW, 10 km by road, is the village and memorial of Oradour-sur-Glane (45.929° N 1.0353° E). Go, visit, and pay a tribute to the people of Oradour-sur-Glane. On 10 June 1944, during World War II, the German Waffen-SS murdered 642 inhabitants of the village. 190 women and 207 children were shot and burned in the church, 245 men were shot, only a few survived. All buildings were destroyed. The ruins of Oradour-sur-Glane are kept as a memorial.
