27-Feb-2016 -- Our confluence target was in the upper reaches of the Blackwater River system just north of the Alexander Mackenzie Grease Trail famous as a result of the First Nations Oolichan grease trade. Our epic adventure included a round trip of 280 km driving, 140 km snowmobile, and 3 km of hiking.

The final confluence day was spectacular with bright sunshine and an amazing view of the snow capped Ulkatcho Mountains. Our trail took us through forests, past water falls, across lakes and rivers with a final steep ascent through an old forest burn in knee deep snow.

Our Confluence was in the middle of a burned pine forest on the upper edge of a steep slope rising from the Blackwater River valley.

Our team of 4 has decades of collective outdoor and recreational expertise with energy and enthusiasm rivaled only by our graying and receding hairlines. We hope this is the first of many Confluence adventures to come.
