01-May-2016 -- El plan para el fin de semana era quedarnos en Resende a descansar. El sábado lo cumplimos, pero el domingo apenas nos levantamos dijimos “y si nos hacemos una escapada a alguna parte?”, así que mientras desayunábamos armamos rápido un itinerario para el día. Incluyendo un par de puntos cercanos que aún nos quedaban pendientes.

Cargamos en el auto un par de botellas de agua y galletitas y luego salimos a la Rodovia Presidente Dutra (BR-116), que uniendo las ciudades de Río de Janeiro y São Paulo tal vez sea la ruta más importante de Brasil.

El primer objetivo del viaje sería visitar la confluencia 23S 45W, a menos de 100 km en línea recta y a unos 140 km por ruta. Entramos al estado de São Paulo y seguimos por la autopista hasta Guaratinguetá, donde doblamos a la izquierda por la ruta SP-171, que unos 40 km más adelante alcanza el pueblo serrano de Cunha y luego bajando la Serra do Mar llega a Paraty ingresando al estado de Rio de Janeiro.

Como la organización fue a las apuradas, para alcanzar esta confluencia solo tomé nota de dos coordenadas: la primera fue el punto exacto donde debería dejar la ruta SP-171 (23°0'36"S 45°1'40"W). Unos kilómetros antes de Cunha ya estábamos internándonos por un camino de tierra a la izquierda de la ruta. La segunda coordenada era el punto donde más nos acercaríamos a la confluencia (23°0'6"S 44°59'38"W). Transitamos unos 5 km por ese camino de tierra, angosto pero en buen estado hasta llegar a un “Pesque y Pague”. A partir de ahí, aproximadamente los últimos 2 km, el camino presentaba un estado lamentable, pero avanzando lentamente pudimos llegar hasta la segunda coordenada, aproximadamente a 600 metros de la confluencia.

En ese punto sale un camino que se acerca aún más a la confluencia, pero en un estado tan lamentable que preferí no arriesgar el auto. La caminata fue relativamente tranquila, los primeros 200 metros por el camino secundario y luego subiendo un cerro, lo cual no es difícil ya que existen varias sendas creadas por el ir y venir del ganado, aunque en partes la pendiente del camino es muy pronunciada (sin estas sendas hubiese sido mucho más difícil).

Minutos después conseguí poner en cero el GPS, en un paisaje muy bonito. Se trata de un pastizal en lo alto del cerro con una leve pendiente y con vistas de las serranías circundantes.

Deshaciendo el camino hasta el auto, y luego lentamente hasta la ruta, seguimos con nuestro plan, visitando São Luis de Paratinga (y su zona rural), un pueblo muy bonito con muchas construcciones antiguas. Luego volvimos a la Dutra a la altura de la ciudad de Taubaté donde nos dirigimos al Shopping, desbordante de gente a pesar de ser 1ro de Mayo. Al parecer en Brasil para los empleados de los comercios en los Shoppings no cuenta el Día del Trabajador.

01-May-2016 -- The plan for the weekend was staying in Resende to rest. We did it on Saturday, but the Sunday just us lifted we said "if we do a getaway to any part?", so while chat set up fast a route for the day. Including a pair of nearby points which were still outstanding to us.

Charge in the auto a pair of bottles of water and cookies and then left to the Rodovia President Dutra (BR-116), that joining the cities of river of Janeiro and São Paulo perhaps is the route more important of Brazil.

The first aim of the trip would be to visit the 23S 45W, less than 100 km in a straight line and about 140 km by road. We went to the State of São Paulo and continue along the motorway to Guaratingueta, where we turned left into the route SP-171, about 40 km further on reaches the town of Cunha and then down the Serra do Mar reach Paraty entering the State of Rio de Janeiro.

As the organization was rush, to achieve this Confluence only took note of two coordinates: the first was the exact spot where should leave the path SP-171 (23°0'36"S 45°1'40"W). A few kilometers before Cunha we were already penetrating us down a dirt road to the left of the path. The second coordinate was the point where most us finding would get closer to the confluence (23°0'6"S 44°59'38"W). We walked about 5 km down that dirt road, narrow, but in good condition until you reach a "fish and pay". A from there, approximately the last 2 km, the road presented a bad condition, but slowly advancing could reach the second coordinate, at approximately 600 metres from the confluence.

At that point is a path that is closer still to the confluence, but in a State so unfortunate that I preferred not to risk the car. The walk was relatively quiet, the first 200 meters along the secondary road and then up a hill, which is not hard since there are several paths created by the coming and going of cattle, although in parts the slope of the road is very steep (without these paths have been much more difficult).

Minutes later I got put in zero GPS, in a very beautiful landscape. It's a grassland atop the hill with a slight slope and with views of the surrounding mountains.

Returned to the car, and then slowly up to the route, we continue with our plan, visiting Sao Luis of Paratinga (and its rural area), a very nice town with many ancient buildings. Then we went back to the Dutra to the height of the city of Taubaté, where we went to shopping, overflowing with people though may 1. Apparently in Brazil for the employees of the shops in the shopping malls there is not Labor Day.
