23-Oct-2015 -- Back in southwestern US to attend the ASA 2015 annual meeting in San Diego to present results from our team. As usual I saved a few days for a touristic round trip in California, Utah, and Arizona. We chose to visit the 4 CP close to our itinerary: 35N 117W, 37N 113W, 36N 112W, and 36N 111W.
We visited this third point after a short side trip on our way between Page and the Grand Canyon National Park. We parked our car off highway 264 just at the start of a dust road heading north at approximately 1250 meters ESE of the confluence. From there we hiked almost straight line to the point over the ridge culminating at altitude 1842 m and at 512 m south of the point. No difficulties to reach the point but the muddy and soft ground slowed the pace of the hike. From the ridge you can appreciate a breath taking view of Coal Mine Canyon in the north which has already struck previous visitors (see Shawn Fleming’s report of his 2013 visit).
