10-May-2017 -- Spending a couple of days vacationing in Saint Louis, I had this point planned as my first Degree Confluence Point in Missouri. It looked easy - just a few feet down a bank beside a road. I had read reports of recent flooding in southern Missouri, but I didn’t expect this to affect me. At worst, I thought, I might end up getting my feet wet.
As I drove down Flinton Station Road towards the point, I soon realized how wrong I was. The road was completely submerged, and impassible. I was still 1.36 miles from the point, which apparently lies on the edge of what would naturally be an island. In normal conditions, levees make the island reachable by road - but not today.
