02-May-2021 -- This is the second out of 5 confluence visits on our drive through the North-East of Namibia. The story continues from 20°S 13°E.
We visited this confluence point while driving northwards on road C43 towards Palmwag. Just 7 km south of Palmwag, there is a 4WD track branching off at a beeline distance to the confluence of 4.5 km (minimal distance of C43 is 3.8 km). This track directly leads to the confluence point. We could theoretically have driven it, but the track was rough, and a walk seemed to be a pleasant option, so we parked our vehicle directly at the C43.
We crossed over a little pass into a beautiful valley. At a distance of 800 m we left the track and headed straight line to the confluence passing over grass fields and when reaching the foot of a mountain we stumbled over a field with loose rocks.
The confluence is located in that zone with loose rocks with bare soil. There are scattered bushes and some trees around. In about 300 m distance is a barn. Directly at the confluence point we found an empty package of orange flavoured powdered drink. It is quite a coincidence that there is garbage directly at the confluence whereas the area is otherwise free of waste. But I can’t believe that a previous confluence visitor has left it there, because it would go against the ideals of confluencing.
After the visit, we had a very short drive to the lodge in Palmwag, where we spent the night.
