#1: The confluence point unfortunately lies beneath a dead pine tree and is (even more unfortunately) marked by a rock cairn

(visited by Ross Finlayson)

16-May-2021 -- While vacationing in Moab, Utah, I took a break from mountain biking today to revisit this point, that I had previously visited 12 years earlier, in May 2009. From Moab, this point turns out to be very easy to visit; paved roads (highways 191 and 113 (aka. Lisbon Valley Road)) take you most of the way (including passing the Lisbon Valley Copper Mine), then easy gravel roads for the last few miles, as you enter Colorado. At [38.00547,-108.99442], a rough road takes you south towards the point, passing within 0.23 miles. An easy hike - mostly along additional road cuts - takes you the rest of the way.

Unfortunately since my last visit (and Gavin Roy’s more recent visit in 2014), a pine tree has died and fallen on top of the point. Also, unfortunately, a stone cairn continues to mark the point. From the point, I flew my drone partway down the Summit Canyon to the South.

Here is a remote-controlled aerial video of this confluence point.
