21-Apr-2023 -- I arrived at this dead end at 3:20pm on a beautiful Friday afternoon, and it was as close as I would get. Since Joseph Kerski's visit in 2010, numerous oil and gas leases have barred access to this land to the public. As I sat at the end of the road pondering my map, the last of the week's propane trucks exited the southern gate, the driver pausing to lock it behind him and waving as he drove away to the east. I followed him shortly after, catching a beautiful dust devil off to my south before hitting OK-81 and heading south through Kingfisher (quick stop to pack up the car and brush my teeth) all the way to Oklahoma City's Will Rogers Airport, where I returned the rental car ($250 + $100 in gas; 795 total miles since yesterday) and was met by old friends for a fun weekend in Norman, OK. Back to Colorado via plane early on Monday. I'll have to try for my first confluence in Oklahoma at a later date. You know I'll be back!
