03-Aug-2022 -- Sommer, Strand, Sonnenuntergang

Klock Brrrrrrrrrr - Der Toyo springt zuverlässig an wie immer. Zum letzten Mal freuen wir uns über das typische Geräusch. Das Panorama des Ararat begleitet uns von Armenien bis hinein in die Ost-Türkei. Wir huschen kurz durch das immer wieder vielseitige Georgien. Die beste Baklava der Welt gibt es wirklich im umkämpften Kurdistan (Nord-Irak), den spektakulärsten Sonnenaufgang auch 30 Jahe später immer noch am Nemrut Dağı (Türkei) und die bunteste Ballonfahrt über den bizarren Tuffstein-Landschaften von Kappadokien (Türkei). Wir tracken Spomenik und Konfluenze auf Graten und in den Schluchten des Balkan: Von einem Ufo in Bulgarien geht’s zum Donau-Strand in Serbien. Die europäische Grenzpatrouille nimmt uns in Kroatien in Empfang und der Euro in Slowenien. Die europäischen Sommer-Urlauber-Ströme treiben uns schnell über den Wurzenpass nach Österreich. Bei Nacht meistert das "Fahrzeug mit Erfahrung" den gefürchteten Irschenberg und biegt wohlbehalten in die Hofeinfahrt in Deutschland ein. Dies ist die Fortsetzung von 43°N 23°E.

Wir verlassen die A3 über die Ausfahrt Pecinci. Im Zick-Zack nähern wir uns über eine flache trockene Hochsommerlandschaft der Konfluenz und queren dabei die wojwodinischen Dörfer Popinci, Golubinci und Putinci. Die Erntezeit hat gerade erst begonnen. Nur wenige Felder sind bereits abgeerntet. Und wir haben Glück: Auf der Landstraße 126 zuckeln wir hinter einem Traktor her, bis rechts von uns zwischen Feldern mit Mais, Bohnen und Sonnenblumen ein abgeernteter Stoppelacker auftaucht. Ein Feldweg führt am Rand entlang (Bild 7). Die Konfluenz liegt nur ein paar Schritte mitten im abgeernteten Gerstenfeld.

Nach dem obligatorischen Nuller-Tanz besuchen wir 30 km nordwärts die Provinzhauptstadt Novi Sad, wo die Peterwardein Festung [1] unseren heimatlichen Fluß, die Donau überragt. Passend dazu lassen wir den heißen Sommertag ausklingen im Biergarten bei Sremski Karlovci mit Sonnenuntergang über dem Donaustrand (Bild 8).

Inzwischen haben wir die fantastische Spomenik Database entdeckt: Die drei Fäuste von Niš (Ниш) (Bild 9) [2] und der Funken der Freiheit in Kosmaj (Космај) (Bild 10) [3] sind unsere Highlights in Serbien.

2024 wird hier der Einsturz des Bahnhofsvordach in Novi Sad landesweite Proteste auslösen. [4] [5]

Clock Brrrrrrrr - The Toyo starts reliably like always. For the last time we welcome the typical engine noise. The panorama of Mount Ararat accompanies us from Armenia into eastern Turkey. We briefly slip through the all-time varied Georgia and enjoy the best baklava of the world in Kurdistan (Northern Iraq), the most spectacular sunrise at Nemrut Dağı (Turkey) and the most colourful balloon ride over the bizarre tuff landscapes of Cappadocia (Turkey). We track spomeniks and confluences on ridges and in the gorges of the Balkans: from a UFO in the fog of Bulgaria to sunset over the Danube beach in Serbia. The European border patrol welcomes us in Croatia and the Euro in Slovenia. The European summer tourists' crowds drive us quickly over the Wurzen Pass into Austria. At night, the experienced vehicle masters the much-feared Irschenberg and turns into the courtyard entry in Germany. This continues the story of 43°N 23°E

Leaving the A3 via the Pecinci exit, we zigzag our way through a flat, dry midsummer landscape toward the confluence, passing through the Vojvodina villages of Popinci, Golubinci, and Putinci. Harvest time has just begun. Only a few fields have already been harvested. And we are lucky: on country road 126, we slowly follow a tractor until - between fields of corn, beans, and sunflowers - a harvested stubble field appears to our right. A dirt road runs along the edge (pic 7). The confluence is only a few steps ahead in the middle of the harvested barley field.

After the obligatory zero dance, we visit the provincial capital of Novi Sad, 30 km to the North, where the Peterwardein Fortress [1] towers over our home river, the Danube. Perfectly fitting, we end the hot summer day in a beer garden near Sremski Karlovci, watching the sunset over the Danube beach (pic 8).

In the meantime, we have discovered the fantastic Spomenik Database: The Three Fists of Niš (Ниш) (pic 9) [2] and the Spark of Freedom in Kosmaj (Космај) (pic 10) [3] are our highlights in Serbia.

In 2024, this is where the collapse of the station canopy in Novi Sad will trigger nationwide protests. [4] [5]
