(visited by Ross Finlayson)

08-Aug-2024 -- Driving from Kalispell, Montana to Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, I made a short detour to visit this Degree Confluence Point, just South of the small town of Blanchard, Idaho (less than 2 miles East of the border with Washington state).

Gravel roads took me to a gate at [48.00575,-116.99998], 0.4 miles from the point. I parked here and hiked along a series of doubletrack roads, until I was just 485 feet North of the point. I then went bushwhacking South through the forest. The terrain soon became very steep, but I was surprised to find (as Joseph Kerski did during his visit last May) that there were some rough paths that led in the general direction towards the point. (Perhaps there is a geocache here, though I didn’t see one.) Eventually, after a lot of scrambling, I managed to reach the point, and (to my surprise) was able to get ‘all zeros’.

Once I was back down on the flat area, I flew my drone back over the point. Here is a remote-controlled aerial video of this confluence point.
