15-Mar-2025 -- I had already visited this confluence point 10 years earlier on a bicycle trip from Malaga to Sevilla. But by chance I came into the area again on my long walk from Portugal to Singapore.
On confluence day I started hiking in the morning in the town Vélez-Málaga. It was the first sunny day on my trip. But nevertheless, it was windy and cold. I had to climb up 1200 m in hight and walk 40 km to get to this conference point. The road is just in 200 m distance, but a field track can get you up to a distance of 60 m. I did shortcut directly from the road and got a little bit into the mud. From the heavy rains in the last two weeks the soil is still soaked everywhere.
The confluence point is located in an olive grove with a great view down to the historic spar town Alhama de Granada.
Right after the visit, I went into the old town of Alhama de Granada. First I went to the jail museum. The lady there gave me a personal tour for one hour and this for €2! After that, I went to a hostel and spend the night there.
