21-Mar-2025 -- I couldn’t conclude my brief vacation on Norfolk Island - a small Australian island territory in the Pacific Ocean (east of the Australian mainland and northwest of New Zealand) - without recording an ‘incomplete’ visit to its Degree Confluence Point, which lies less than 3km off its northern coast.
I first drove to Cascade Pier, which appears to be the only publicly-accessible point on the coast, close to the point. This is about 3.5km southwest of the point. Some other visitors to Degree Confluence Points in the ocean have chartered a boat to take them to the exact point. This is probably possible here, but it’s not something that I’m interested in doing; Ocean Degree Confluence Points just don’t interest me that much.
Instead, I then drove along a network of nearby rural roads, to try to get slightly closer to the point. I finally ended up finding a private property gateway that was just 3.22km away.
