23-Jul-2025 -- This was the first of five Kansas confluences today traveling eastward along the state’s northern border.
I left Fort Collins CO at 3:30am, visited a friend’s grave in Stratton NE, and then pulled up to this confluence at 9:41am after traveling roughly three miles of soft dirt road eastward off KS Route 25. I actually had to park farther north by the T intersection in order to get the appropriate pictures, since this point is almost directly on the road. I was glad it wasn’t in one of the adjacent fields, where the corn stands at nearly six feet tall already. In the silky dust of the road surface I saw several snake tracks superimposed atop some enormous tire tracks. It's obvious that not many vehicles smaller than a tractor come this way. The temperature was already warming up toward 90°F as I pulled away to the next confluence to the east.
