23-Aug-2026 -- This was our second of three confluence point visits during our holiday in Sri Lanka, following our successful visit to 7°N 80°E on Monday the 17th.

This excursion required a detour while travelling north from Ella to Sigiriya. Since the last logged visit in 2007, when the land was cleared, the area has grown into dense forest.

The final 40-metre descent heading south covers a steep gradient with no defined track. We reached the small dwelling referenced in previous visitor reports; however, it was unoccupied at the time. Reluctant to cut through dense terrain on private property unannounced—and considering potential signal loss under heavy canopy coverage—we elected not to proceed to the precise coordinates.

Given a GPS accuracy of 5 metres, we estimated our closest approach to be within 35 to 45 metres of the exact confluence point. While the length of the detour made this a somewhat bittersweet result, it was nonetheless an enjoyable attempt.
