30-Sep-2000 -- It is a beautiful
fall day in Springdale Arkansas and we are attending a juggling
festival. I had previously mentioned confluence hunting to Susan and Paul and being the
understanding people that they are, they humored me. However, when I mentioned that the
confluence was only 15 miles away, they were quite willing to go exploring.
Around 2:00 there was a break in the festivities, and the public performance wasn't due to
start until 3:30PM - so we took off on the hunt.
It was a piece of cake to locate. After a short drive nearly due south, the GPS indicated that
the site was off the road about 100 meters. The only problem was that the land was posted - No
Trespassing. But I have had this problem before. All you have to do is find the owner.
The owner turned out to be a lovely lady who after hearing my explanation of the need to cross
her fence line gave her permission and warning -- be careful of the bull. She thought that he
wouldn't be a problem, but I am fairly certain she didn't want him agitated.
We headed back to the confluence and pulled off the road a little south and east. And of
course -- the herd was grazing nearly on top of the confluence. However the bull ignored us and
we proceeded to "capture" the confluence.
