This confluence is right beside the outback Kamilaroi Highway, so any kudos you might get for bagging it could only come from doing the long drive from wherever you have come. Mo and I were on a road trip from Canberra to Carnarvon Gorge NP in Queensland, so it was a simple matter for us to make a short side trip from Walgett and pull up in the scrub beside the road. There wasn't much traffic on this remote highway but, sadly, there was a lot of roadside litter. The scrub beyond is dry, scrappy and featureless. And no barbed-wire fence to clamber through/over/under, which might otherwise add an element of challenge to this rather momentary quest. Near the confluence point I found an old Orlando sherry bottle and wondered how this bit of litter ended up 100m from the roadside on a highway that stretches over 200km into the Outback. It would be a toss of herculean effort. Maybe just caught up in roadside flood waters? Surely not a thirsty confluencer! Zeroes done and photos taken (including said bottle), we got back on our way north, day-dreaming of bigger confluence quests ahead.
