15-Sep-2026 -- After visiting [39,78], I continued westward on the freeway through northern Virginia, passing the towns of Front Royal and Strasburg. I then entered West Virginia, passing through the towns of Wardensville and Moorefield. Once again, I was impressed not just by West Virginia's scenery, but also by the quality of its highways. (Thank the powerful late senator Robert Byrd for his skill at bringing lots of highway funding to his state.)

A few miles south of Moorefield, I turned off the highway to park on a paved turnout at [39.00171,-79.00560], 0.32 miles West of the point. From there I crossed a gate and hiked along (and up) a farm field (currently with no animals present). I then entered a section of forest, crossed another gate, and continued ascending through the forest towards the point.

As I approached the point from the West, I saw several “No Trespassing” signs posted on trees next to a fence (running Northwest to Southeast) - making it clear that the property owner did not want people crossing the fence to get any closer. (These “No Trespassing” signs seem to be more recent than the last visit to this point in 2009.) I was able to get to 274 feet (+/- GPS error of 6 feet) Southwest of the point. I took my photos from there, and hiked back down the hill to my car.
