10-Oct-2026 -- I had been eyeing this CP for a long time, and finally decided to visit it on a two-day hike. Looking at the map, it was clear that the route wouldn't be easy. Besides reaching the spot itself, I also wanted to visit Kirants Monastery.
The hike from Acharkut to Kirants took about four hours, including visits to Arakelots Monastery and Samson's Bridge. The road was muddy but passable, with plenty of springs along the way.
Beyond Kirants, the road gets worse, and I had to cross one stream. The final approach to the CP starts at the turn-off at 41.00108, 44.98746. This is the most difficult section, as the old road is heavily overgrown.
The spot itself is on a wooded slope covered with thorny bushes. I took a few photos and headed back. There aren't really any views to speak of here.
I followed the same route back and, after dark, reached a good campsite near Samson's Bridge, where I spent the night. Another excellent campsite with water is a little earlier along the route, at 41.02178, 45.03988.
