14-Jan-2000 -- Off of US-177 between Ponca City, OK & Arkansas City, KS, I
missed the turnoff marked "Stateline Road" and had to backtrack. It was
a dirt road, the edges still muddy from the nearly month of snow lying
on the ground, but really no trouble as long as you stayed centered.
Not busy at all, so no issue.
After several hills and miles East of passing pastures and grazing
fields, the GPS finally informed me I was only about 50 yards South of
the confluence.
I dropped back to the closest house and explained my purpose of
attempting to cross onto their property to take some pictures. They did
not see a good purpose to this, not wishing to have people traipsing on
their land, but could not prevent me from taking pictures from the
road. So, that is what I did.
In hindsight, taking pictures in the confluence would have gotten me
pictures of trees in all directions. These photos show more of the lay
of the land. The road itself is interesting, as it essentially is the
border between the two states, North is Kansas,
Oklahoma on the South.
