29-Apr-2001 -- Sunday
I was in Lafayette, LA for meetings but had today free. It would
probably be my one and only chance to look for confluences. The geology,
geography and botany are quite different than what I’m used to on the Colorado
Plateau and in the Great Basin in the Western United States. N33 W092 is very
close to Arkansas. In fact, part of the drive took me into that state. The last
town I went through was Beekman, LA.
Again, the back roads were amazing. They go on and on. And the houses!
Many are large and grand with surrounding porches and columns. The undergrowth
here was the same as at N32 W092. And, when I reached the confluence, there was
another orange flag!
I had to use both compass and GPS to get back to the car.
A bad day exploring is still better than any other day!
