16-Apr-2001 -- It looked like the roads might be dry enough, so I took a trip east
along the Oregon-California state line to Adobe Flat. This is where the Quad
sheets showed 42N 121W. A short walk north of the stateline road and the GPS
indicated the confluence. I verified the position by compass and pacing to a
nearby quarter section corner. As the photos show, this confluence lies in the
sage, juniper, and Ponderosa pine fringe typical of the Oregon-California high
desert country. The navigation was not difficult. I have driven by this
location many times on my way to work.
