26-May-2001 -- I decided to visit my first confluence while travelling between the cities of Estevan and Regina. I drove North from Estevan along Highway 47 past Stoughton until I came to Main Grid Road 711. I then turned East turning North again on a grid road just before the village of Corning. I turned West at the next grid road which was only one lane wide. I traveled this road until I was more or less even with the confluence on my right and parked my car at 49° 59.3470’ N - 103° 00.1980’ W. I then walked the remaining 1.23 Km to the confluence.
The weather was warm and very dry. This area, once covered by prairie grassland, is now used for large scale grain farming. I saw no one while I was there and only a couple on vehicles passed far in the distance. During my walk I passed a small pond at 49° 59.6400’ N - 103° 00.1440’ W. Three pairs of ducks occupied the pond and I could hear frogs as I passed.
I stopped for a few minutes at the confluence and allowed the GPS to average to be sure I was as close as I could be. The local time was 14:34 (GMT –6) and the PDOP was between 2 and 3. I took the photos and returned to my car.
I completed my journey continuing up Highway 47 until the junction with Highway 48 on which I turned to a heading of about 287° to Regina.
