28-Jun-2001 -- After a successful visit to the 37N 128E, I quickly took the train to Iksan, Jeollabuk-do, so I could go to this confluence point in the same day. Thankfully, the bus that went close to the confluence point came by soon after getting out of the train station, so I wasted little time.

I had a bit of problem at this point, however. I left my GPS on the window while riding the train, and the sun shone particularly strong during this leg of the trip. This caused the GPS to overheat and malfunction; the coordinates jumped wildly and couldn't get a fix. Since I check the GPS often to see if I was getting close to the confluence point, this was like getting blinded. Now I had to trust that the bus went through the routes I was expecting, and that my preliminary coordinate point I marked on the map was indeed the actual confluence.

Luckily, the bus did go through the expected route, and the preliminary point was quite close to the actual point, it turned out. My GPS cooled down and was back in operation as I got off the bus. I was almost directly at the north of the confluence point, and there was a path going due south in front of me, which was what I was exactly expecting. After about quarter hour of walk, I got to a point where the path moved away from the target. I then went through a small path in the fields, which was already heavily planted with crops, and I could eventually find myself standing right on the confluence point! (Picture #2) This was the first time no significant obstacles were present in reaching the confluence for me.

The area being generally flat resembled the first confluence point I visited (37N 127E), except that other crops were heavily planted along with rice. After taking pictures of the area, I quickly went back to the road I got off the bus from, so I ould catch the returning bus in time. The bus indeed showed up a couple of minutes later, and it took me back to the train station so I could take the train back to the dorm in a perfect timing.
