01-Jul-2001 -- My last confluence point of the Canada Day 2001 long weekend was 50N-109W. Leaving 49N-109 W on the path I stumbled onto after leaving the old homestead, I was pleasantly surprised to find only two gates in my way before reaching public roads. I rode north as fast as the limits would allow keeping cool in the 38-degree temperature and blinding sunlight. Quite a change from the fog and rain experienced earlier that day. I finally made it into the small town of East End just as my fuel supply hit reserve. Was I ever glad to find a gas station still open on Canada Day! After a nice bit of banana cream pie in the local air-conditioned café I was back on the bike, heading north on 633 to my rendezvous with the next CP just east of Piapot Saskatchewan.

After about 30 minutes of travel I turned east on a grid road and then north again into an open pasture. I was able to ride my bike to a spot about 50 meters directly north of the CP, which is located in a dried up, grassed-in slough. Too easy! The photos show the views looking north, south, east and west. Also included is the standard GPS shot plus a photo taken in Piapot that explains how the town got its name.
