04-Jul-2001 -- After my visit to 48N120W earlier in the day, I headed north again on Highway 97, up the Okanogan valley towards the Canadian border. A few hours later I reached Oroville, the last town before the border. I found the "Oroville-Toroda Road" which heads up into the hills on the east side of the valley. I followed that all the way to Chesaw. Past Chesaw, heading towards Bolster, the road changed from a two-lane paved road to a narrower dirt road. The town of Bolster is only about six buildings near the turnoff for Gold Creek Road. I followed the road along Gold Creek for about a mile and then parked on the north side of the road in some trees. It was a little difficult to get a good GPS reading between the trees, and it seemed that the fence was actually a little south of the 49th parallel.
After taking some pictures I headed back to the Jeep. Instead of going over the hill on the way back, I went around the west side through a cow pasture. By the time I made it back to the Jeep, the sun was going down. I got back to Oroville before dark and crossed the border into Canada. A few days later I went to Manning Park and visited 49N 121W...
