04-Jul-2001 -- We decided to celebrate our nation's holiday by visiting two confluences to our north, in Iowa. We left Columbia, MO that morning and headed north to US 34, which basically runs along the 41st parallel. After passing through Fairfield, IA, we turned south onto a road that lead almost directly to the confluence. We parked on the side of the road, and headed east to the confluence, which was located in a plowed field. As we approached the confluence, we noticed that there was an orange drain pipe directly on the confluence. We snapped a couple of pictures and headed back to the car to try for 41°N 93°W, about one hour to our west.
