18-Jul-2001 -- I was on a remote mapping survey of the tracks on the Nullarbor Plain on the Forrest to Mundrabilla Rd when I noticed I was not too far from a confluence.
I had to drive about 7 km across trackless saltbush plain to reach the confluence which took a considerable amount of time and determination. Although the Plain is almost treeless, it is rough and scrubby. I had to check the underneath of my four-wheel drive a few times for vegetation which can ignite and burn the vehicle, (a sacrifice I am not prepared to make to record a confluence while alone in the desert area!).
The diversion was worth it apart from the confluence because I saw three magnificent dingoes (Australian native dog), one of which was creamy white and in fine condition. The scenery was flat with low saltbush scrub as far as the horizon in every direction.
