#1: Well......forest !

(visited by Olli Suutela and Jussi Kattelus)

10-Oct-2001 -- Since my very first confluence visit I have received plenty of support from my colleague Jussi. He has also urged people to visit the Project's site for good laughs. Jussi himself has found this a great thing to do and finally we were able to visit a confluence together; we would pass one on a business trip. Actually we drove by N62E24 as well but it has already been visited.

After a good night sleep in Hotel Mesikämmen, Ähtäri and a very brief visit we headed towards the confluence point. Jussi was driving and I read the maps and gps.

Very soon we came to less than 10 km from the point but had to drive around a few lakes which made the distance a bit longer. This is not rare in a small country with more than 100.000 lakes. We passed small country villages and talked about the poor situation of country side; abonded houses, closed gas stations and general stores etc. But the landscape with colors turning was....well you just have to see it yourself.

Small dirt roads tooks us to a small house (Picture 8) and an old logging road (Picture 9). We parked the car about 370 meters from the point. We decided not to continue any further in our business suits and changed into proper clothes and shoes.

The logging road took us almost directly to the point and Jussi showed true spirit; 5 meters was not close enough for him....has to be "triple zeros"! We congratulated ourselves with the successful visit and went back. On the way back to the car we noticed a rusty piece of an old truck or tractor (Picture 10)
