02-Dec-2001 -- Back on track, raising steam!
(c) Jethro Tull
As nearly all confluences in Italy has been visited already, there are only
three "above-timberline" ones left (and two in Sardegna as well),
thanks to Hans - you didn´t stop half the way, did you ;-)
So, what? Wait until next spring?
Made the "Users-Manual-Test" with my GPS-device:
in case I have to look in it again, then it rested too long!
All right, so YOU win ....
Since the weather forecast for north-west Italy wasn´t that bad,
this sunday would be possibly the last opportunity to catch 46°N 010°E
before snowfalls would wipe away all those hiking routes above 1800 m.
The forecast said "cloudy, foggy, mostly dry with some sunny spots in the afternoon"
(so called "temporary-99-feet-diameter-local-high-pressure-systems" ;-)
Their life-time measures up to 2.8 shots with your DigiCam, but only if
that Goddess of Misfortune is "caressing" another poor guy in the meantime....
The plan was to climb up Mt Vigna Soliva, find the spot, wait till sunset
and try to catch all that red, yellow, purple, orange, grey, pink, blue and all
the other colours nobody named yet.
So, there I waited after I located the spot, wishing my DigiCam´s batteries
to hell and back again to warm them up, not only me was getting cold slowly -
but I didn´t malfunction!
And more, it happened absolutely nothing, except this: it simply went dark....
(did I mention that the spot is located in the only brushwood around -
within hundreds of yards ?)
OK, so I was out in fresh air, getting some workout, drinking pure mountain-wellspring-water.
And stumpling in the dark back to the car.
And putting this confluence on the Top-3-List of spring´s schedule!
And take more time to visit Lago d´Iseo, Milano and Lombardia in general.
Maybe I c ya there?
Mike ;-)
