23-Dec-2001 -- Killala, NSW

To get to this confluence, we simply headed straight up the Kidman Way and parked the car about 900 metres from the confluence near a kink in the road.
Again, this confluence was going to be too hard for the kids, so Ada stayed in the car with Jamie and Vicky.
During my walk to the confluence I startled some kangaroos that followed suit by startling me.
A lot of the tree trunks were blackened from a recent bush fire and there was a lot of new growth at ground level.
During the 45 minutes or so I was in the bush walking to the confluence, three cars went by – one of which stopped to make sure we weren’t in need of assistance. Ada gave a standard explanation along the lines of “I don’t exactly know what he’s doing, but my husband has taken a GPS and compass into the bush and is trying to find something called a ‘confluence’ - he should be back soon”.
