27-Dec-2001 -- Tenterfield, NSW

So after catching up with my wife’s family in Caboolture for a couple of days, it was now time to head home and pick up some more confluences. The optimal driving route from Brisbane to Melbourne is the Newell Highway, which is about a 1700 kilometre journey – usually over a couple of days.
On the way up to Brisbane we took a more inland route on the Cobb and Kidman Highways before hooking back up with the Newell Highway south of Narrabri. On the way back to Melbourne, we will take a more easterly route through New England and Tamworth before rejoining the Newell Highway at Coonabarabran.
Similar to our last confluence on the way up, this confluence has been previously visited by Owen Foley, however we decided to drop in on it anyway given that we will be driving straight past it on our way down the New England Highway.
Again, the confluence was pretty much as previously reported – except we didn’t have the picturesque flock of sheep this time.
