10-Feb-2002 -- By using 1:500,000 topo sheets and the GPS we navigated through tribal land to within 1300 meters of the confluence point. We left the vehicle unguarded next to the gravel road, a risk we decided that was worth it.
Fortunately we could walk almost all the way on a jeep track and had to bash through only 35 meters of bush to reach the point.
The batteries almost gave out on us. The GPS batteries were put in the camera, photos taken in low light and then we hurried back.
Delighted to see about 50 or more white storks in the mealie field on the walk back.
