30-Mar-2002 -- Beautiful spring weather, two snowmobiles and seven people.
Let's take the confluence point!
The GPS 36 km distance from our home base turned out to be
closer to 50 snowmobile km. We started from the village Ammarnäs
heading for Laisvall. As we reached the district of Norrbotten we
followed a beautiful mountain ridge due east, until we reached the
border of the nature reservation of Dellikälven.
Then, of course,
we continued on foot and skis the remaining 400 m towards the
confluence point. The point was situated on a north-facing slope
in the valley of Dellikälven, lightly begrown with low birch trees.
We left a small geocache as close to the point as possible.
Don't expect any surprises, as I forgot to leave one in the
bottle :-(
For other navigators, do visit the point, outside the reservation
the snowmobiling is quite challenging with the mountain side
and the not too dense birch forest to zig-zag between. Very nice!
