20-Nov-2001 -- Regularly I (Belgian) visit Nepal, to visit the humanitarian projects we have in progress there. One of them is a school we helped with setting up and maintaining in Sarangkot, near Pokhara. Together with Ram, the Nepalese project leader of Quality of Life Nepal NGO, my friend Klaas Proesmans (Belgian), Ram's sister Madu, the Dutch volunteer Olivia and Geert Lybaert, a Belgian publisher, we made a successful attempt to this convergency point after an intense scouting session the day before to assess which vehicles we needed to cross this untravelled terrain. After a good 2 hours ride south from Pokhara to Bhimad on reasonable roads we went for another hour off road in a Toyota landrover to get as near as possible to the point. This gave us a 3 hours breathtaking trek with continuously the complete Annapurna mountain range on our right. Absolutely stunning panoramas, hard to capture on the pictures. If you look above the clouds you will notice the sacred mountain Machapuhara also named 'fishtial' which towers above the cumulusses. A good hike path across 3-4 hills brought us close. Than, with the aid of Ram, who is familiar to these terrain conditions we descended, down the overgrown paddies for 15 min. to the convergency point and started celebrating.
