08-Apr-2002 -- During a boat cruise of the Yangtze River with my family I noticed that we would make a close approach to 30N 114E. I hope that our position on the river can be considered close enough to count as an attempt and maybe give another traveler an idea of the type of landscape to expect. The actual confluence is near the south bank of the river about 50 Km SSW of the city of Wuhan. Unfortunately at this point the main navaigation channel follows the North bank of the river as it crosses 114E. The terrain in the area is extremely flat and is covered by many lakes and waterways.
I shot two photos of my GPS as our boat crossed 114E but they were badly blurred. I did not notice this until I reviewed the photos several minutes later at which time I rushed back to the top deck to take another which is shown here. Our closest approach to the confluence was about 30.02.00N 114E. To the next person to make an attempt at this confluence, I wish you success.
