04-Jul-2002 -- Visited By Jyrki Huhtaniska and Matti Rahkala
The point is located in the national park of Pyhatunturi, about 80 km from Rovaniemi to north-east.
First we tried to reach the point from west, but the river we faced on the way was too wide (Fig 3).
So we decided to reach the point from north. It was quite easy to reach, only about two kilometers walk. It was easy soil, swamp and forest(Fig 4).
There were no mosquitoes, but huge bees and gadflies all over us.
Unfortunately we did not get a picture of western capercaillie with her 5-6 youngsters.
Fortunately we did not get a picture of a bear which was in the neighbourhood. It was growling in the woods behind the river. We smelled a carcass and heard noise like a bear.
