09-Oct-2002 -- After making it to 28°S 119°E in the morning, I was hoping to actually make it to a second confluence in one day. But, for the second time, I was denied this elusive pleasure.
Heading south from Mt Magnet towards Perth, about 50 km north of Payne's Find I turned east on a well-graded gravel road. About 6 km on this gravel road brings you to the windmill and beautiful stone water tank pictured here. Directly across from the windmill a very small and old track heading due south. This track crosses a fenceline with gate but past the fence it gets quite overgrown.
After about 10 km, the track turns southeast and becomes stupidly overgrown. My map shows that track heading directly to the confluence and indeed the GPS indicated we were heading directly towards it. But the track was too overgrown for our big troopy, so we gave up while still 10.5 kms away. This confluence would be easy with a mountain bike, dirt bike, or your brother's car. 4wd not needed.
