  13°N 32°E (visit #2)

#1: West view from Confluence

(visited by Paul Gamester and Awadullah Longman)

30-Jan-2003 -- A small, souvenir dose of Malaria, and the early departure of half the team meant we had to drop the more challenging visits planned, but the Confluence at 13N 32E looks like it's only a couple of hundred meters from the main southern Trans-Sahara road.

So we stuck with our plans, drove south across the desert and the rail track, and parked up within what looked from the maps to be 100 m or so of our target. The GPS gave us something more like 400 m still to go, so we tramped off across the spiky remains of someone's previous rainy-season "crop" - rather nice, as it means the vehicle is pretty much absent from the pictures. Anyway, here they are, taken on the third attempt, and looking just like every other square inch of Sudanese Sahara for hundreds of miles around!
