13-Jul-2003 -- We set off from Akureyri shortly before noon, for a day trip through Skagafjorður district. The weather wasn´t perfect, but could have been worse!
I had told my Icelandic hosts about the degree confluence project, and we noticed that one of the unvisited confluences was very close to the road near Hvammur farm in the Fljótum. So I entered the confluence as a waypoint in my Garmin Legend and we counted down the kilometres as we drove along Eyjafjorður.
It turned out to be an extremely easy target, only 13 metres from the road. Reynir and Sirrý thought the whole idea was a little crazy, especially when we were closing in on the target by following the GPS by the side of the road. The valley is quite picturesque, and the confluence is close to a hydro power station below Stífluvatn.
We continued to Siglufjörður before heading out to Skagaströnd, where we passed within 780m of 66°N 20°W. All in all a very enjoyable trip.
