04-Jul-2003 -- Made an attempt to visit the confluence on a cycle tour on southeast Iceland. The point is located on an island in the braided river system Skeidará, and was inaccessible by foot. The closest I could get was 424 m on one of the flood control dams. The weather had been warm and rainy the preceding week, so Skeidará was bigger than normal, but I think the confluence is inaccessible without mechanical or floating vehicles in any time of the year.
Elevation on the dam was 98 m, and the confluence should be at 93 m. The terrain type is sandur, which is a rather flat area of rounded pebbles, with braided rivers changing their courses now and then.
