15-Aug-2003 -- The departure from Sofia was at around 13.00. At about 18:00, just before
the sundown we were at the region of confluence. The road is very good,
which makes it extremely easy to reach the spot. We found out that the soil
in this region was extremely fertile. The sunflowers were just as twice our
height. The tobacco was with leaves, big enough to make several Hemingway
cigars from one of them. At the confluence point we met a cowman with
cattle. He remembered his 3rd grade geography lessons when he was thought
about parallels and meridians. He even promised to check what am I posting
on the Internet, but another time… To show the exact location of the point
of confluence I put cowman’s stick at the spot, which used to be in a
pumpkin field. Remzi, the cowman, proved to be an extremely friendly guy. We
had a few beers in the village pub. He told us that the summer is very hot,
with temperatures reaching 40-45 degrees Celsius. The winter is quite chilly
and very often the roads are closed because of some heavy snow storms. He
also told us of his biggest dreams – to ski. However, he said, there is no
place around there to do it.
