28-Sep-2003 --
On that chilly autumn Sunday I decided to follow my hobby
and do some biking. Actually, there is a confluence in Columbus right next to my
home. But in order to exercise a bit, I decided to ride my bike one confluence
further north. I started at 6 a.m. and rode 102 km on the road to the town
Bycurus. After having a second breakfast I biked another 25 km to the confluence
point. Just following very nice little roads I got to the point to a distance of
350 m by road, then I could ride on a little path between a field and the forest
as close as 80 m. Here, I parked my bike and hiked through the dense forest. In
30 m distance from the point, I saw these astonishing mushrooms on that fallen
tree (picture #5). Reaching the confluence, I was quite lucky that the sun came
out and I was able to shoot the confluence pictures. Since my digital camera was
stolen recently, I had to put up with an old single-use black and white camera,
which had been lying around in my home quite a while.
Coming back from the confluence, I wanted to take a picture
of some locals. But all I got to see when I reached the road again were some
dogs going after me. I could escape with my bike, but wasn’t able to take a
picture. There were no people outside, so I finally took picture #6, when a car
passed.
Of course I had to ride back home. On my way back I came
through Marion and Delaware and at 8:30 p.m. I got back to Columbus, after a
hard but great 264 km (164 miles) biking-day.
