The day after we visited 52S 72W we went to the Parque Nacional Torres del Paine, undoubtedly the most beautiful Park in Chile and one of the most beautiful Parks worldwide.

Luckily the weather was pretty that day, not very common in that region. From our map we knew, that 51S 73W must be located somewhere directly in the Paine-Range and we were quite anxious, how close our approach would be. For a real serious attempt there was no time left, for we had only 3 days left in the Park.

On our first hike passing Salto Grande, which connects Lago Pehoé and Lago Nordenskjöld, on the southern banks of the latter we finally came closest to the CP with a distance of merely 5.5 km. It lies in the southern face of the Cerro Paine Chico Sur east of the Valle Bader just beneath the sheer granite cliffs, so that I would guess it must be possible to reach it without alpinist experience.

The vista from there must be breathtaking with the lakes to the south and the famous “Cuernos” (horns) to the west, wherefore this point must be regarded as one of the most beautiful confluencepoints on this planet!
